Orange Vase Princess Ariane NR 1200

Immerse yourself in the world of original and exquisite Design at Timeless Art, where each piece is carefully selected for its unique charm and elegance.

Floris Meydam, the patriarch of Dutch glass art, designed an Orange Vase for the birth of Princess Ariane, born on April 10, 2007, as the third daughter of Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Máxima. At 87 years old, Meydam rarely creates new designs, making this a particularly special commission for the National Glass Museum, which is proud to have worked with one of the most renowned designers in the Leerdam glass tradition.

The Ariane vase is the tenth in a series that began in 1927 with Chris Lanooy's design for Princess Juliana's 18th birthday. All these vases have been inspired by the iconic "Oranjeappeltje." Floris Meydam’s design stands out for its unique approach based on a meticulous measurement system.

The Glass Museum issued 1,000 vases, but some vases were rejected and destroyed, so you may come across vases numbered as high as 1300, though those numbers are not reused and were part of the destroyed batch.
