Rare 1970s Cubic Wenge & Marble Side Tables by Claus Bonderup & Torsten Thorup

This exceptional pair of geometric cubic side tables is a rare masterpiece of 1970s Danish minimalism, designed by the visionary architect duo Claus Bonderup & Torsten Thorup. Best known globally for their legendary 1968 Semi Pendant lamp, their furniture designs are highly elusive and sought after by top-tier collectors. Crafted with a razor-sharp architectural eye, each table features a solid Wenge wood frame that creates a perfect cube, encasing a beautifully veined white marble top that sits perfectly flush with the wood.

Authentic vintage sets of this caliber rarely appear on the open market, making this a unique opportunity for serious collectors and interior designers alike. The craftsmanship required to inlay heavy marble completely flush with solid wood without visible gaps is a testament to the supreme quality of 20th-century Danish furniture makers. Buyers should note that while the timeless geometric lines fit effortlessly into contemporary spaces, the natural variation in the marble veining ensures that each table remains a completely unique, one-of-a-kind original.

Investing in this pair means acquiring a piece of elite architectural history that seamlessly blends functional furniture with sculptural art. The stark, sophisticated contrast between the deep, dark tones of the Wenge wood and the organic elegance of the white marble offers an instant focal point for any high-end modern living room or office. Because these tables were originally produced in extremely limited quantities for high-profile Scandinavian projects—such as the flagship Georg Jensen store in Copenhagen—they hold an incredible investment value that will only appreciate over time within the global design market.
